Do you agree that the 2022 Philippine elections should be postpone due to COVID-19?

Pampanga 2nd District Representative Mikey Arroyo wants the Comelec to consider postponing the 2022 presidential elections because of the pandemic. Do you agree? why or why not?

I think in order to postpone an election is through cha-cha but I think there are other possible ways to do election like the proposed multiple day election to extend since mostly schools during election are packed with crowds, with extended election school handling elections can still practice social distancing by allowing first few voters. Like I said previously, I don't know much about the constitution. But if it will require a constitutional amendment and a plebiscite to postpone a national election. Then that would be like a "dog chasing it's tail", trying to prevent something, or do damage control, with a method that would create the same damage or impact. So, if they cannot postpone the 2022 Philippine Elections, then there must be something they could do to prevent an even worse outbreak. Reply

I don't know much about the constitution, but I do know that if the 2022 Elections would augment the number of Covid19 Cases, which presumably it would, because of exposure due to "Abused Physical Distancing", then by all means it has to be postponed. Unless of course, if everything would be done online, and people will not be compelled to go to precincts anymore, then that should be safer. The Philippine Constitution was designed for the people. If more people are gonna die because of it, or because of the elections, then it didn't serve it's purpose. Reply

No, it shouldn't be postponed. It would be against the Constitution. And besides, hopefully things will be better by 2022, unless he's up for re-election, his motive is suspect. Reply

No. Is he expecting the pandemic to continue until 2022? Too early to propose that. Reply

You require a constitutional amendment and a plebiscite to postpone a national election. A plebiscite is a national election. Another stupid congressman. Reply

Di na sya naawa kay Duterte. Gusto pa ata nya pagtrabahuhin ang pangulo at his age. Sa halip na nagpapahinga and nag eenjoy ng oras with anak and apos mas gusto pa ata nya pasanin pa ng pangulo yung problema ng bansa by that time. Not unless may motibo sya and wanted to extend his term as a representative. Pathetic! Reply
